There are many clues that the film Once is an unconventional storytelling medium, but let’s start at the end. The credits-mercifully short- at the end of the film come very quickly to songwriting and performing credit. Lo and behold the actors and performers are one and the same. More incredibly, the actors, performers, and songwriters are one and the same. This tidbit is relevant because Once is essentially a film about music. Critics have had an understandably difficult time attempting to categorize a film that is so musical but that is most certainly not a “musical.”

Whether you are an Entourage consumer or not, you should at least be somewhat familiar with its storyline. (This is unless you have plugged your ears to the incessant coverage on Lindsay Lohan's latest "whatever.") Entourage is basically the behind-the-scenes look at a hot young actor (Vince) and his "entourage". The storyline focuses on the nuances of personal assistants, agents, friends, and everything in between.

Well, this week's episode ("The Weho Ho" episode) was no different from the norm. The recurring themes of image, lying, betrayal, and greed all made an appearance. All of which makes the placement of Nina Simone's Sinnerman in the closing credits all the more interesting.

The popularity of Fix You is somewhat surprising considering how independent our culture has become. How does a song, based on the idea that we need someone else to be fixed, move so many people? Maybe it's because we all get to a point in our life where we know ours and the world’s needs are deeper than our abilities to attend to them.

If you are unfamiliar with D&AD , it might be an organization worth keeping an eye on. This British non-profit entity has been serving the global creative, design, and advertising communities for almost 30 years. Though D&AD's focus is bridging education (which they provide) and the workplace in these particular arenas, D&AD is typically known for their annual "Global Awards" (a.k.a. The Black and Yellow Pencil Awards). The various award categories range from branding to digital media to broadcasting (See the full list here) and as of this year - Music Videos.

Short Title: This American Life: Kid Logic
Director: Ira Glass

It should be no surprise that this kind of wisdom comes from a child.

With between 5 & 6 billion copies of the Bible floating around out there, it is hard to find anyone in America who hasn’t heard of Jesus. Even if you haven’t picked up one of those copies, you probably know how Jesus died (Mel Gibson did everything in his power to tell you.)

But do you know why people wanted to kill him?

In this brief clip from This American Life, taken from a show focused on kid logic, a four-year-old makes a connection that brings beautiful insight to this question. Only people who feel like they have something to lose stand opposed to the ideas of others.

People aren’t killed for starting country clubs; people are killed for starting revolutions.
