pins and needles! pins and needles!Posted by Eric Kuiper in Untagged |
if anyone remembers pigman shouting “pins and needles, pins and needles” in the “great” film PCU back in the 90’s, you may remember it was because he found a movie that had both michael caine and gene hackman in it. it was the conclusion to his college thesis [i’m not going to explain how…just watch the old filthy movie yourself if you care.] i mention this because i had a “pins and needles” moment myself last night. here on my computer i found the molding together of two great forces.
now me calling either of these two things “great” is certainly my opinion and it is subject to debate. when i had reported to my brother that i loved the latest musical offering from one of them he told me it meant nothing to him...i had drank the kool-aid after their first album and he needed a more un-bias opinion. be that as it may…below i give to you 3 minutes and 50 seconds of peer joy.
interestingly enough this comes from a group of Second Life folks. If you don’t know anything about Second Life, you should. it is a “world” that more and more people are spending time in that will cause our culture to ask a whole new set of questions. actually, it already has , but economics seems like one of the smallest issues to me.
it's interesting that a group of people who have felt drawn to create an alternate persona in a virtual world are gathering around ideas like redemption. What are they looking for on the SL grid ? It may just be the exact same things we’re all looking for in our "first life." maybe no matter where you go, you can’t get away from brokenness and the need for healing and restoration…even if you create yourself and your world, from the ground up.
