“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”  - Albert Einsten

the Effects of Violence

Posted by Matt Browning in Untagged

My mom always told me not to hit other because it "wasn't nice."  But what if violence is more than just a social faux pas.  Maybe there's more to the effects of violence than just the obvious.  Maybe MLK, Ghandi and

God Gets Sued

Posted by Matt Browning in lawsuitGod

Yep, you read that right...God is being sued, and by an elected official none-the-less. You kind of have to wonder how embarressed those people that voted for him are now. This ain't the Onion or the Daily Show folks, this is the REAL news.

Is U2 BUGGIN' You? They Don't Mean to Bug You.

painting_bono.jpgThere's been a lot of talk about this next band and their lead singer... maybe too much talk. This next band isn't just a group of social activists; they're the greatest rock band in the world (aka U2). If those last two sentences confused you, you need to pick up U2's disc "Under a Blood Red Sky" and listen to the live version of Sunday Bloody Sunday.

Ideals and Iraq

Posted by Matt Browning in Untagged

shiite mourners.jpgThis morning I was reading the news online (like I do most days) and I clicked on the article about a US air raid in Iraq killing 32 people with suspected terrorist connections in the northern Shiite slum Sadr City.  I'm not really sure why I even read this article, since just about everyday there is at least one new article about deaths in Iraq.  Then I started looking at the pictures (which I posted some of below).  Now I don't want this to be a "political" post as much as I want it to be a post about humanity and ideals, meaning that I don't want to take sides, which is what seems to happen when we talk about Iraq.
